Why do I need to provide my personal information as part of Anti-Money Laundering laws?

New Zealand’s Anti-Money Laundering and Countering Financing of Terrorism Act 2009 requires financial institutions and business such as bookkeeping services undertake customer due diligence. This is a compulsory obligation and that requires both ongoing and annual review, and covers identity verification for individuals, company directors, shareholders, trustees and beneficiaries, as well as any person or entity that may have more than 25% ownership or a high level of control/ influence over a business. MyOfficeGirl uses government-verified 2Shakes to automate some of this process. If we are not able to obtain the required information from you, we will not be able to act for you. Our team will explain what information is required, and why, in greater detail following an initial consultation.
